When it comes to bass fishing, there isn’t much that beats a good topwater bite. I am a huge fan of buzz baits and Ploppers. A company by the name of Obasslive came out with a very unique bait called the Vubble Vack. It is a lipped wake bait that has a prop as well as what they call the “Kung Fu Tail.” At first glance, I wasn’t sure if the tail rotated like a Whopper Plopper or had a different kind of action. It comes stock with Owner ST-35’s which are some of my favorite treble hooks. They are ultra sticky and have no issue with keeping fish pinned. It is 5 inches long and comes in a variety of different colors. This bait is very different than other topwater baits on the market. There are multiple ways to fish it depending on your retrieve. The tail doesn’t rotate which causes it to act erratic and almost have a mind of its own. On a slow steady retrieve, the short lip digs and causes the bait to have a nice wide wobble. The slow retrieve throws off a ton of water. On a faster retrieve, you can get it to fish slightly subsurface. The best way I found to fish this bait was on a slow retrieve with random pauses thrown in. Majority of my strikes have come on the pause. The bait also works really well pitched into pockets and twitched like a frog. The Vubble Vack causes some crazy blowups. I throw it on an Irod Croaker Crusher which is a 784 and I pair it up with a 8.5:1 Curado DC. I’m definitely adding it to my arsenal. Obasslive has something special with this bait and I am glad I was able to get my hands on a few. If you’re in the market for something new, grab yourself a Vubble Vack and see what all the fuss is about. Available on obasslive.com
