Nowadays there's no shortage of walking baits. Some great companies who make a wide range of shapes and sizes. I grew up fishing the Zara Spook. It was such a fun bite and every time the seasons seemed to slowly switch from summer to fall it was time to go huck a spook. For whatever reason, it became a bait that I neglected in recent years. I think alot of it came down to having so many other options to chose from. I threw other walking baits and they worked well but nothing seemed to work as good as the OG Spook. This year I found myself back to throwing it more consistently like I had in years past. Seeing the results made it a no brainer to have on the deck for most of the year. One new bait that caught my eye was the Deps Brachiostik. It is essentially a Pencil Popper on Steroids. The shape is designed to be able to cast a country mile and Deps certainly hit a homerun in that regard. It is very loud and causes quite the disturbance. Another thing that I noticed is the direction of the hook hangers. They aren't vertical like your typical treble hook baits instead they are bent at an angle. By doing this, it alleviates the hooks fouling up as often as most walking baits tend to do. This thing has quickly become one of my favorite walking baits. It consistently gets bit and is strong enough to withstand not only Largies but Stripers as well. Don't sleep on the Deps Brachiostik. This bait is the real deal.
