In terms of topwater baits, there’s quite the variety to chose from. It seems like there’s always something new being introduced. One of the hottest styles in recent years is the Double Buzz. I grew up fishing Buzzbaits. There are certain times when they flat out won’t eat anything better. I feel like it tends to get overshadowed by the Whopper Plopper a lot more than it should. The addition of the Double Buzz has added a completely different option to chose from. The added disturbance and profile with the extra blade has caught big fish across the Nation. I wasn’t the firmest believer in them to start with because I was stuck in the “if it isn’t broke, why fix it” mentality. My brother whooped me on Clear Lake and Lake Berryessa with it in consecutive trips and ultimately made me change my mind. There are a good amount of brands to chose from and I’ve caught fish on all of the ones that I’ve fished. I stumbled across a brand that I had never heard of while scrolling Tackle Warehouse called the Blabuzz Double Buzz by Khan Baits. The head design is super unique and seems to want to stay upright and balanced on the retrieve. The feature that really stuck out to me is the added wire arms that are next to the blades that keep the blades from rotating on your cast. It works wonders and you can get a lot further casting distance without having to worry about your bait helicoptering through the air. The hook keeper is very solid as well and keeps a trailer pinned without issue. This bait flat out catches fish. There is one negative I found with it though and that’s the single wire. With the majority of other Double Buzzbaits, they come equipped with two wires which ultimately helps with durability. The single wire gets mangled and you will find yourself readjusting it after a few violent fights. It can get annoying especially when the bait costs $20.99. That being said I’ve never been one to complain about durability when a bait consistently catches fish and this one has certainly done that for me. If you can get past the wire, the Blabuzz is a bait you will be happy adding to your arsenal.
