I follow The Hook Up Tackle on Instagram. The owner Ben is very informative and consistently packs the shop with the latest and greatest gear especially JDM stuff. He posted a trailer rig that he came up with that I thought was very unique. At first glance, it does look sorta funky but after seeing it swim in the tank I had to try it for myself.
The rig requires these components: swim jig, large Decoy Versatile keepers, Barrel swivel (brand is irrelevant), medium Owner Twist Lock, and a Teckel Sprinker Tail of whatever color you prefer.
Grab whichever swim jig that you prefer to rig. He used the Uoze Swimmer but I’ve tried it on multiple different baits. Open up a pack of the large Decoy Versatile keepers and thread one over the hook.
Next you take one medium Owner Twist Lock, the Sprinker Tail, and the barrel swivel. Start by twisting the twist lock through the spinning side of the swivel before you thread the the twist lock through the tail.
Last step is to put the other side of the swivel through the hook. Bring the rig down to the Decoy keeper from the first step and then add another keeper to hold it all in place.
This rig may look like a gimmick but I can promise you I’ve never found a trailer that moves this much water. You can fish it at just about any speed and the tail will still kick. If you’re looking for something different, give this rig a shot.
